Today’s Scripture: ‘My thoughts are not like your thoughts.’ – Isaiah 55:8 (NCV)

God said, ‘My thoughts are not like your thoughts…Just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my…thoughts higher than your thoughts’ (v.8-9 NCV).
God doesn’t think like we do, and we’ll question His ways of working, and even doubt His love, until the point when we accept that His perspective and thoughts are far better than ours.
We try to avoid pain, but God can use it to bring us peace. We want comfort, but He’s more interested in character. We pursue stuff that doesn’t last, whereas He tells us to build our lives on a foundation that endures for eternity.
The fact is, God dwells in a dimension we can’t begin to understand: Solomon said, ‘No one can really build a house for our God. Not even the highest of heavens can hold him’ (2 Chronicles 2:6 NCV).
The things that control us don’t control God, and the things that worry us don’t worry Him. An eagle isn’t upset by traffic because it soars above it. A whale isn’t bothered by a hurricane because it can dive beneath the bad weather.
A lion isn’t flustered by a mouse that’s standing in its way because it knows it can walk over it. How much more is God able to soar above, dive beneath, and walk over the troubles of earth?
What is impossible for humans is possible with God (see Matthew 19:26). God can be everywhere at once, and He can hear and answer all the prayers that come to Him.
God works according to a plan and a purpose, He’s our king and in control of everything – but He still watches over every detail of our lives. Let that truth comfort you today.
Find images of an eagle, a whale, and a lion. Use them to guide your prayers today – ask God to help you soar above, dive below, or walk over the problems that are on your mind at the moment.
